Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a gifted assessment, and how is it conducted?
A gifted assessment evaluates a child’s intellectual abilities and potential. It typically includes IQ tests, achievement tests, and behavioral observations, conducted by a licensed psychologist. Results help identify giftedness and guide educational planning.
2. How can therapy support gifted children emotionally and socially?
Therapy helps gifted children manage emotions, cope with perfectionism, and improve social skills. It provides strategies for handling pressure, managing boredom, and navigating relationships with peers.
3. What are the signs that my child might need a gifted assessment?
Signs include advanced problem-solving skills, early reading ability, intense curiosity, strong memory, and high creativity. If they feel unchallenged in school or show asynchronous development (advanced in some areas but not others), an assessment may be beneficial.
