Premarital Counselling in Calgary Using PREPARE / ENRICH
Build a stronger foundation for your relationship through premarital counselling in Calgary or marriage counselling. Our PREPARE / ENRICH assessment gives couples a dedicated space to better understand each other, strengthen communication, discuss important expectations, and prepare for the life they want to build together.
At Innerlogue Therapy & Psychology, we offer in-person and virtual premarital counselling in Calgary using PREPARE / ENRICH, the #1 premarital and marriage assessment built on over 45 years of relationship research. This globally recognized program lowers a couple’s risk for divorce by 31% and improves relationship satisfaction by helping couples build the skills needed to establish a strong foundation.

What is the PREPARE/ENRICH program?
The PREPARE / ENRICH program is offered by a certified facilitator who provides a structured relationship assessment that explores strengths, areas for growth, and relationship patterns. Topics include:
Fees and What to Expect During PREPARE / ENRICH Counselling
Each partner completes an individual online assessment. The combined cost for both assessments is $35 USD (approximately $50 CAD). The program consists of 6 to 8 sessions, billed at the facilitator’s hourly rate ($235/hour).
A workbook with skill-building exercises (to be completed on your own time) is provided to complement your assessment. The facilitator reviews your personalized results in each session while discussing areas that may benefit from deeper conversation.
There is no pass or fail. The program is not designed to determine whether you should or should not get married. Instead, it identifies important topics for conversation and provides a starting point for learning more about yourselves and your relationship.
Common Topics Covered in Premarital Counselling
Every couple enters marriage with different life experiences, communication styles, family backgrounds, and expectations. Premarital counselling provides an opportunity to discuss important topics before they become sources of conflict. Through the PREPARE / ENRICH assessment, couples gain insight into areas of strength while identifying topics that may benefit from further conversation and skill-building.
Common topics explored in premarital counselling include communication skills, conflict resolution, financial planning, household responsibilities, intimacy, parenting expectations, relationships with extended family and in-laws, work-life balance, cultural or religious differences, decision-making, and future life goals. Couples also learn practical relationship skills that can help them navigate disagreements in healthy ways and build a stronger, more resilient partnership.
Who Can Benefit from PREPARE / ENRICH Premarital Counselling?
Although PREPARE / ENRICH is commonly used for premarital counselling, it can support couples throughout different stages of a relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is premarital counselling only for engaged couples?
No. While many couples attend premarital counselling after getting engaged, the PREPARE / ENRICH program is also beneficial for dating couples, newlyweds, married couples, remarried couples, and couples who simply want to strengthen their relationship. The skills learned can support healthy communication and long-term relationship satisfaction at any stage.
How many premarital counselling sessions are recommended?
Most couples complete 6–8 counselling sessions. Each partner first completes the PREPARE / ENRICH online assessment, and your therapist will guide you through your personalized results while helping you develop practical relationship skills. The number of sessions can be adjusted based on your goals and areas you would like to explore.
What topics are discussed during premarital counselling?
Premarital counselling covers many of the conversations that couples may not have had in depth before marriage. Topics commonly include communication, conflict resolution, finances, intimacy, parenting, family relationships, expectations about marriage, household responsibilities, personality differences, stress management, spirituality, and future goals. The PREPARE / ENRICH assessment helps identify your relationship’s strengths while highlighting areas that may benefit from further discussion.
Can we attend premarital counselling if our relationship is already strong?
Absolutely. Many couples seek premarital counselling not because they are struggling, but because they want to invest in their relationship before marriage. The goal is to build on your existing strengths, improve communication, and develop skills that can help you navigate future challenges together.
Do you offer virtual premarital counselling in Alberta?
