Nancy McLean
I am a Registered Psychologist who believes that everyone is worthy and whole just as they are. I believe that everyone is worthy and whole just as they are. Often, we’re challenged by adaptive patterns we learned early in life. I’m endlessly curious about how biology and life experiences shape us into who we are today. In my work, I hold gentle space for all aspects of my clients, warmly inviting in the parts of themselves they may often want to hide.
I believe that we adapt to our experiences and circumstances, doing the best we can from moment to moment. My approach to therapy is to compassionately welcome all parts of my clients into the space—so they can be witnessed, understood, and cared for without judgment. I’m passionate about honouring emotions and helping clients feel deeply loved and accepted. I aim to guide clients into a space where they can heal from painful life experiences and release adaptive beliefs that no longer serve them. I walk alongside them as they navigate life’s transitions, holding space for self-healing.
I was born and raised in a small farming community in Saskatchewan and am a fourth-generation descendant of Scottish and Irish settlers. While I understand the rural lifestyle well, I also raised my blended family of three kids in an urban environment here in Calgary. I find solace in yoga and meditation and consider myself a truthseeker. I welcome all expressions of spirituality and meaning-making and believe that openness and curiosity are essential in the counselling space.
